When moving a 42" plasma, there are some visible marks from body skin or sweat when the TV is turned off.
It isnt visible with the TV playing so the screen itself doesnt appear damaged but when off its there.
It happened a while ago and out of fear of ruining the screen nothing has been done but the owner really wants to clean it.

Is there a special way for cleaning these screens or will an old rag and a bit of spit do the trick???

I dont want to buy an expensive cloth if they are not actually anything special that you cant do with normal material.

Again they were marks from human skin/oils/sweat...how should I clean it??

    Thanks in advance

  2. I dunno if this applies to all plasma TVs, but here are the cleaning directions for mine:

    Cleaning the Screen

    1. Use a soft cotton cloth to gently clean the screen.

    2. The screen glass is very fragile. Do not scrape it with any sharp object. Do not press or tap the screen glass to avoid cracking. When the screen is seriously contaminated, use a soft cloth moistened with diluted neutral cleaner to clean the display. Wring water out of the cloth before cleaning to prevent water from penetrating into the housing. Wipe the display with a dry cloth after cleaning.

I hope that is helpful. Good luck.

Windex or similar glass cleaner (Without ammonia) works well for me. I use a premium quality paper towel that is soft. This works fine for most plastic screens and should work the same with any glass screens. Dampen the towel, not the screen, with the cleaner. Use a light pressure.

  4. You shouldn't ever use chemicals on a plasma, they can harm the anti-glare coating on the screen. If you can't get it clean with a soft lint free cloth alone, use a little water.

The best way to clean it, as I have found, is to use water with a micro-fiber cloth. It cleans it very well.
