I am trying to rip my dvd collection to my HTPC and have come across my series collection and ran across each dvd having a single title and using chapters to move to the appropriate segment. I am currently using FUW and have tried the 'output segment' to the appropriate number of episodes but have only had them cut incorrectly.

I have used DVDFab before and I am not pleased with the quality it gives me. Is there anything that can make it easy to get the episodes cut correctly that will do it automatically like DVDFab can by choosing which chapters to render?

Another problem I have come across is when I am making dual audio avi's encoded with x.264 and AC3 that both of the audios will play at the same time inside WMP and WMC. Would converting it to mkv help at all? I have had dual audios play in WMP and WMC play fine before so I am not exactly sure what I am doing wrong.

Ok, so it looks like this may not be possible since I got 0 responses. But that is fine. Now let me pose a different question. If I use FUW to make the episodes on the dvd to a single video file is there a piece of software out there that will let me cut it easily when it is encoded with x.264 video and AC3 audio?

Rip the entire title as main movie only with DVDFab HD Decrypter. There will be no quality loss.

Open the new structure in DVD Shrink. Click on Re-Author, and drag the main title across to the left-hand pane once for each episode. You now have a very large DVD. Right-click on each title, and select Set Start and End Points. Select the start and end point of the chapter for that title - e.g. for episode 1, select the start of the title to the start of the next chapter. Repeat on each title so that each one becomes a single chapter.

When you are done, click Backup, and write the results to an ISO file so you can open it in FUW. You will now have separate episodes visible for encoding.

Windows MediaPlayer replays all audio streams simultaneously.
This is normal. WMP does not support AVI files, don't use it.

@guns1nger: Thanks for the advice. I will put it to the test and see what quality I can get out of it.

@Midzuki: I had no idea that WMP does not support avi's. That does make sense since all of the other dual audios I have played were mkv's.

Ok, the first problem I have come across is that DVDFab HD Decrypter will not let me rip the audio, and I take it that I will need to use DVDFab HD Decrypter in order to bypass some of the disc protections.

Does FairUse require already separated audio tracks? I don't know as I don't use it. AutoGK doesn't require that. Anyway, demux the audio with DGIndex, PGCDemux, or other programs.

You'll need something. DVD Decrypter allows you to demux the audio while decrypting, but if any of your DVDs use the newer protection schemes it might fail. I don't know of any episodic DVDs that use any of those protections, though.

Actually, WMP will play AVIs with more than one audio stream properly, if you install something like Morgan Stream Switcher... or probably Haali Media Splitter. (The latter would be a far better idea, though I don't remember if it does enable multiple audio stream switching with WMP.)

Of course, I also suggest using something other than WMP, anyway, regardless of whether or not you're trying to play videos with more than one audio stream.

So you get no audio ?

Explain clearly what your problem is.

When I open DVDFab HD Decrypter it has a check box to rip video but not audio. I am not seeing a way for me to check the box to rip the audio.

  11. The Video_TS folder contains the VOBs which contain both audio and video. Have you even tried to decrypt the DVD yet?

In a regular DVD, the Audio_TS folder is empty.

If you want to decrypt each episode separately, you might try DVD Decrypter.

For a DVD Video disc, the audio is in the VOB files along with the menus, subtitles etc. Only DVD Audio uses the Audio_TS folder.
