So, HCEnc doesn't do audio, huh?

In any case, it pretty much eliminates the usefulness of the HC cropping feature since if you're not cutting the sound at the same time, you're not going to get video and audio to be the same length and therefore will get errors when you try to make a DVD with them.

I do my trimming in AviSynth before sending to HC, then I use the same script in QuEnc using the Audio Only feature and encode to AC3. It has never failed to maintain synchronization for me.

So the fact that is says it is an mpeg-2 encoder and has absolutely no audio encoding settings whatsoever wasn't a giveaway ?

VirtualDubMod makes it very easy to edit and then import your edits into an AviSynth script.

Look at the guide I wrote about it in the guides section.

I think that with HCenc, the cut points you refere to were to be done inside an avisynth script. I think the way it goes is you do whatever edits (via scripting) and review it in virtualdub and then when you are sure about everything and am ready to encode, that you bring the script over to HCenc and let it do the rest -- encode to MPEG-2 .m2v file. The audio processing would follow separately (from the same script) but to your audio tool of choice.

But if you are new to this field, I can see how you could miss this.

I didn't know about "insert frameset as trims" in the script editor. Thanks!
