    Hi..
    after using smooth deinterlacer in vdub. it will make 25fps interlaced video into 50p video.
    how can i make it back to 25p video??

    Thanks

  2. Video -> Frame Rate... -> Convert to fps [25]

    But does that filter really double the frame rate? You're talking about Gunnar Thalin's filter that shows up as "Deinterlace - Smooth v1.1"?

  4. Ah, I had a chance to read up on that filter. It doesn't really change the frame rate. You are supposed to use AviSynth to SeparateFields() before opening the video in VirtualDub. Changing the output frame rate in VirtualDub won't work right because the frame rate is halved before sending the frames to the filters.

    The best deinterlace filter I've found for VirtualDub is Donald Graft's Smart Deinterlace. Try it in "Edge directed interpolate" mode.

    But if you're using AviSynth to SeparateFields() why don't you use one of the good deinterlacers for AviSynth? LeakKernelDeint(), TDeint(), Yadif(), etc.

  6. He already suggested 3:

    TDeint()
    Yadif(Order=1,Mode=0)
    LeakKernelDeint(Order=1)

    The Order is for TFF. If BFF, then Order=0. They all have other parameters you can tweak if necessary. There are better deinterlacers but they're all too slow for my liking. These are the 3 best fast ones, in my opinion. Of the 3, I like Yadif the best.

  8. and i am not much familiar with AviSynth
    Walk before you run. Those 3 are, in my opinion, already better than anything available in VDub, and way faster as well (when encoding using Fast Recompress). Why not try them out first?

    TFF=Top Field First
    BFF=Bottom Field First
