I've just bought a WinTV Primio FM and I'm having problems with the feed from my camcorder. It's a PAL analogue (I'm in UK)camcorder that has composite out so I'm using the composite-SVHS adaptor provided the image is fuzzy and in black/white.
I have managed to rectify it a few times but I'm never sure what I actually did (I think it was by going into WinTV2000 and fiddling with the PAL/NTSC settings)- and whenever I restart the problem is the same.
I've tried the WinTV and Video wave 32 application. With VirualDub I only get a blue screen.
Any ideas?

I too am in the UK and the problem you are having is due to capture cards defaulting to NTSC. If you go into the settings for the card (using the capture software) you should be able to force this to PAL.
Blue screen happens if you have more than one input (ie Composite and SVideo) and you have the wrong one selected.

Thanks Ricardo - I'm sure that's how I managed to solve the problem earlier but I obviously didn't save the cahnges and can't remember how I did it.
I'll try again. -
Hi,
I am in NTSC-land, but have had a similar issue with various installs of WinTV cards. It almost looks like all of the color is gone, with a few pieces of red in there. Another sign of this issue is that it looks like the picture is viewed through wire mesh.
In general, my captures are done through SVideo in AVI_IO on Win2k. This should not make much of a difference whatever app/os.
Whenever I setup a WinTV card, I go into the "suite" section of the WinTV2000 app (it is a little button on the top left of the app). There I add a channel dedicated to the camcorder. Once all of the settings are picked (NTSC, SVideo, etc.) and saved, the screen clears up nicely. From that point on, I can go into any capture app and get great quality.
Hope it helps!

Thanks Andrew - that's exactly what I've just done andit seems to work in everthing except Videowave.
Will I have to do that everytime? Time will tell....
