    Hi everyone. I have a new Sony HDR SR12E AVCHD. Does anyone know if you can switch off AE and do exposure manually. am I just missing this somewhere? any help much appreciated.

    Have you looked at the manual?

    yes, i had, several times..... but couldn't see it anywhere. all that is there is AE Shift, which is something else. but i've found it now, but still can't see it in the manual. oh well. thanks anyway.

    Ummm, isn't the manual exposure setting what turns off AE?
