  1. Ok so i have a computer that gets sound from an integrated realtech hd from an abit mobo i have installed. My question is this.

Besides the audio output jacks on the back of the mobo it has the 3 basic jacks on the case as well (line in/out mic)and somehow this are the ones working which should mean that i connected them to the mobo somehow.

Y are the mobo ones not working?Do they need to be connected as well?I mean they're integrated into the computer?

Anyway what i really care about is if there's any difference to the output quality, whether i use the outputs from the case or the ones from the mobo.Cause while i'm using the ones in the side of the case a noticeable hissing and distortion can be conceived when using my earphones. Will it be any better if i use the mobos outputs?

  2. The answer is a definite maybe.

The hardware is the same. The only difference is the extra cable length and a different set of jacks. Generally I have been able to eliminate this by minimizing the gain on the recording side and maximizing the gain on the output source.

IOW, turn the recording volume down and the output volume from the source up. Changing the jacks may, or may not, make any difference at all.

  3. Recording? You mean as for the mic output?I dont really care that much about the mic, mostly the line out is what matters, since that is where i connect my speakers/earpieces.

Y dont the mobo outputs work? And only the case ones do?

    Thanx.

The realtek driver controls which connections are active. I believe the default is rear connections active.

If you wish to use the front connections you will need to reconfigure the driver.
