  1. you can gain some more space to decrease the audio bitrate

  2. Yeah I know, I upped the audio bitrate to take up more space on the cd as I'd plenty left. Unless you were referring to me reducing the filesize of the 1 minute clip??......

  3. Hmmm

With Hardware decoders and Home DVD units coming out that support Mpeg4/DivX why settle for crappy quality 1cd movies?
I use Nandub or Fairuse and make 2hrs long movies that look as good as SVCD and they fit 1 700mb cd.
With XivD, DivX5 and Micro$oft's new mpeg4 codecs coming out.... I think you guys will see that mpeg4 is here to stay

if ure really desperate to do this and need more space than change the sound to mono and select 64 as the audio bitrate. now the audio will take up half the space and more room for video. why use stereo if ure just going to do silly cartoons for ure kids or something??

Not with the new MPEG4 licensing terms. See this article about this issue:

  7. Have you guys checked out Kwag's template? http://www.kvcd.net/ It's the same idea, but he's changed the gop's and the movies look great and fit on one cd.

  8. NOne of this is anything New People all you need is the bitrate calc from tools and TMGENEC and bingo your watching whole movies from one disc.
And I dont know about all this converting divx with vdub and and avi synth because all I do is load the divx into Tmpgenec then I load the the 1246 vcd template
    load the unlock
change the video bitrate to whatever the bitrate calculator said and since the audio is only going to get so good I just use 128 bitrate for that and thats all to putting a movie on one disc . I find that Bitrate calc a useful tool. And Yes the movies come back very tolerable.
I even rencoded a rip from A 1150 video and 224 audio to 800 video 128 audio and surprisingly it looked really good ,but dont take my word for it try it your self . Sorry for rambling Just had alot to say

  9. Actually I think you'll find that there is a little bit more than just changing the ave bitrates in order to have a watchable movie on 1 cd. Anyone who only uses this approach is bound to be watching a substandard format. Its only after having studied the nature of mpeg properties and compression that you can provide conclusive hints on the best possible "looks". But hell I'd still class myself as a relative newbie and I'mm glad to try out all of the methods available. Nothing has come close to touching Kwags yet, and I believe that his template was not just a random shot in the dark but the results of reading up on 1 or 2 texts regarding compression techniques.
