I'm trying to make a 222mb mpeg (tv show) into a smaller avi. I tired doing it usually virtualdub and somehow it came out as a 3xx avi, actually larger than the mpg. The problem I believe I have is according to the help page on the topic, it says to select divx-slow motion or something to that effect. I don't have that choice. The only divx choice I have is divx4.12 codec or something like that. Also I cannot adjust the quality, it's a grey adjustment and won't let me move it from 100%.

When you choose Divx 4.12, you need to click on the configure button to add your custom settings. Here you'll find bitrate (the real space eater) along with encoding quality, etc.
You may have to do a few different settings to find what looks best given the source video. -
If I change the bitrate to 1kbps, it will equal what the mpeg size is. Am I wrong in thinking that the whole point of converting from mpeg to avi is the size issue? I wish this forum had a search engine, so I wouldn't bother people..
Also one more issue, according to the help page on converting mpeg to avi, it says that I should select divx audio. I have almost no choice to choose audio, just no audio or avi audio.
