I have a now redundant SKY+ PVR and would like to transfer some of the recorded programmes on the HD disc, onto my PC, for editing and recording to DVD. can i do the following .....Connect the PVR upto my CANOPUS ADVC100 and record it to my PC using WINDV as i have been doing in the past with VHS video tapes. And yhen as usual use TMPGNC and TMPGNC DVD Author to create the DVD files.

I don't have a Sky box but if it has S-Video out, you should be able to get your Canopus ADVC to work. Have you tried it?

I don't believe that Sky+ boxes have separate audio phono sockets so s-video won't be adequate (but then my girlfriend has a basic Sky box and it only has a Scart socket; no s-video). You would need a scart to red, white and yellow phono lead.
The way that you described will work as far as I am concerned. I have the ADVC-50 and that is what I would do. Also being in Pal-land, I don't think that using the S-video route will make any difference to the quality anyway.
I hope that this is helpful.Cole -
Thanks for the advice chaps, i already use a scart to phono lead for VHS conversion, so will give it a go!!
