  2. Did you uninstall the DivX codec?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  6. that happened to me before when i was using WMP (Windows Media Player) because the install codecs was on 'automatic' download and my divx codecs got written over. try this first : http://ftp.pcworld.com/pub/video/video_tools/divx_3.11alpha.zip
if that doesnt work then install this: http://users.chartertn.net/bpearson/nimo44.exe
the above is the Nimo Codec Pack and it has solved my problems 9 out of ten times. The only drawback being that it automatically uses divx 4.xx to play all of divx 3.11alpha movies...which is not always a good idea. You can change this in the options in the setup panel. Anyways, after you install this stuff, IF you used WMP to playback your movies make sure you go in the options panel and disable the automatic download of codecs...Microcrap codecs suck hee hee....except for mpeglayer 1 stuff.
    hope this helps
