I am trying to convert a video, name.RM , to, well, anything else on a Mac OSX 10.5. It plays fine using Real Player. My ultimate goal is importing it into iMovie.

I have tried ffmpegX but it reports "no video" and "no audio"

    Now what?

About your Computer Details: I suppose you meant 2 GHz instead of 2 MHz. Is it Intel or PowerPC? Apple has made quite a few 2 GHz machines with both chipsets. (PowerMac G5 (Tower)/2.0 GHz (Single|Dual); iMac G5/2.0 GHz; Intel iMac/2.0 GHz; Mac Mini/2.0 GHz; Mac Pro/2.0 GHz (Dual Intel Xeon); MacBook/2.0 GHz; MacBook Pro/2.0 GHz.)

    • Did you install the corresponding (Intel or PPC) Reallib for ffmpegX?

    • When you do a Clip Info (Cmd-I) in RealPlayer, then choose Streams, what codecs (versions) does it list? (E.g. RealVideo 9 for stream 0, RealAudio 8 for stream 1, sometimes also known as RV40 and cook.)

    • When you try to Encode in ffmpegX with Open Terminal Window activated, does it give an additional error that may not be listed in the Process Information log? (E.g. Bus error.) That might point to a PPC/Intel mix-up as described in my 2nd point.
