I don't know if it's better or worse. All I know it's off. I knew it all along, once I started it's going to be like this. I tried the following -400,-500, and -600 but it's still off.

Then try a positive value use larger increments....use your imagination
1) Is audio is early or late?
2) Confirm that this is constant sync problem
This shouldn't be this difficult. It should only take 1 min to fix with trial and error... -

Enter a bigger value to hear the difference more clearly, like -1500ms, or -3000ms (did you remember to checkmark the box???) Are you hearing the audio shift at all with a bigger value???
Conceptually, this is audio early: V=video A=audio
_VVVVV
AAAAA
For this, enter a +delay
this is audio late:
VVVVV
_AAAAA
For this, enter a -delay
(Sorry spaces don't show up for some reason so I used "_")
Constant sync means it's like 1 sec all the way through. Just play it and skip to the end. If its in sync at the beginning but gradually gets worse out of sync, you have a length mismatch - this is an entirely different problem. -
We my friend have a whole problem......It's off all the way through.

Run mediainfo on
1) your audioless .avi
2) your demuxed .AC3
3) your converted .mp3
You are looking for any duration (running time) discrepancies. If one is too long, there is going to be audio sync problems. This can be from bad decryption or bad encoding. -

Just use bigger values until its right. Each attempt should only take 1-2seconds. Push play. Enter a new value, push play etc....Don't save until in sync
1) Try bigger values -2000ms to more easily tell the difference. If the audio is too early, adjust it smaller like -1500ms.
2) Confirm that you have followed the steps outlined, and you can actually hear the audio shifting
Make sure you only are using 1 audio (i.e. the english mp3) -

You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the 2 files. You can try and use the AC3 file instead of the MP3.
Can you confirm you can hear the audio shifting at ALL?
Sorry, I can't give you any more help, or make the steps any simpler.
Good luck -

Confirm that you pushed "enter" and you still can't hear a difference????
I just tried this and 100% sure it works.
Cheers anyway -
Open the file in media player classic. Use the + and - keys on the numeric keypad to alter the delay. Keep shifting until the audio is in sync. Note the delay (shown bottom left corner when adjusting) and use this number in virtualdub.
If you can't get it working, the problem is you. The advice given by Mr Deathray has been spot on. I prefer the MPC method simply because it can be done on the fly, but you still end up in virtualdub in the end.Read my blog here.
