hi all. I've been using MeGUI for about 2 weeks now and have gotten some REALLY GOOD h.264 encodes of concerts from DVD's that i've bought and couldn't be happier. I have some HD WMV files that i want to encode to h.264 mkvs and wanted to know if there was a way to get MeGUI to accept WMV inputs. I've tried opening the AviSynth dialog and opening the wmv, but it comes up with an error message:

"AviSynth Script Error: DirectShowSource: RenderFile, The filter graph manager won't talk to me"

is there some kind of workaround to this? Thanks in advance.

Hi-Def WMVs usually are VC-1 video, which requires the latest version
of the Windows Media codecs (they are part of the whole WMP 11 package,
BUT can be installed separately as well). Does your computer have it already

i'm guessing no since i haven't heard of them before, but i have WMP 11 and i installed Windows Media Video 9 VCM to see if that would help, but didn't.

  5. Have you tried enabling VC-1, WMV1/7, WMV2/8, WMV3/9 in the ffdshow video configuration?

  7. I think "Windows Media Format 11 Runtime" should be automatically installed when WMP 11is installed, but double check in the add/remove programs to see if you have it; if not install it.

The other possibility is maybe your avisynth install is outdated/corrupted? Perhaps uninstall/reinstall it?

You can also try opening your file with graphedit and "render media file" to see if you have WMAudio and WMVideo Decoder DMO as part of the filter graph

I seem to have no problems with DirectShowSource() and .wmv files of all types (including VC-1) in MeGUI

  10. I'm using 2.5.7, but there's 2.5.8 out

(I tried an older 2.5.8 release candidate a few months ago, but got buggy errors so reverted back to 2.5.7)
