Can someone answer these questions about the Quicktime .mov format
How does Quicktime compare in video image quality with mpg2 video?
Can Quicktime files be converted to .mpg2 files without significant loss of video quality?
Is there a good video software editing program that can edit Quicktime videos?
Thanks for your help!

mov is a container.
(that sucks)
quality is defined by what's actually in the container.

mov can be equally as good as mpeg2. It is an apple version of mpeg4 so is newer than mpeg2, so inevitably it has better compression. Tmpgenc will handle mov's converting them to mpeg2 (Same quality, larger file size).
Apple Ilife will edit mov.
mov's will not eat your clothes.
