  1. Ok, my Sony DVD player does not handle SVCDs; therefore, I must burn in a VCD non-compliant format in order for them to play correctly on my player.

Is it required to demultiplex and multiplex in VCD non-compliant format prior to burning the SVCD into a VCD (non-compliant) with NERO.

  2. I'm sorry, but I don't follow your logic.

Just because your player doesn't play back SVCD doesn't mean that it will play back an XSVCD/XVCD with a SVCD style video file on a VCD...

As to whether you need to remultiplex it or not, there is no clear answer. XVCD can be anything you make it to be. Your best bet is to try using CD-RW media and experiment to find a method that works for you.

    Oberk, try this:
    http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd

It worked for me but my sony is picky and the audio was thrown off so use a CDRW to test first.

  4. Stryker:

I will try the method illustrated in your link. So far the only way to get an SVCD to play on my Sony CD600 is to demux & multiplex then burn as a non-compliant VCD under NERO. As for XVCD, with the templates I have tried, they didn't work correctly mainly due to the version of TMPG (2.5) I was using. I have since upgraded to 2.51 and 2.51plus. I may download an older version to see if I can get XVCDs to encode and play properly.

    Thanks
