    You can use AVI Recomp.

But most dvd players supports both xvid and divx.
Have you tried the divx avis? And please also post the details of the divx video, post a screenshot from gspot for example.

  3. Just use an AVI fourcc code changer to change the fourcc code to Xvid.

I agree - just change the FourCC from DIVX/DX50/etc. to XVID. DivX and Xvid are basically the same (Xvid began as a fork of DivX), so any conversion or reencode will probably mostly be an unnecessary reduction of quality.

Unlikely. Most likely the movies either use the ancient Divx3 codec which your player doesn't support or there are settings like GMC or QPel that your player doesn't support.

You might have one of the few players that reject a video if the FourCC is anything other than, say, 'XVID.' (Usually, though, the ones I've read about wanted DivX FourCCs only. ) Offhand, I can't see anything a player might really choke on, though it could always have a problem with the packed-bitstream in the first and VBR audio in the second.

If you have an RW disc, or a blank you don't mind 'wasting,' just use a FourCC editor to change the FourCCs on those videos to XVID (you might have to change the extension on the .divx file to .avi... your player might not see files with that extension, anyway, if it wants only Xvid AVIs) - no need to recompress; you're just changing a few bytes within the videos, burn them to disc, and test the disc in your player.

jman98: Oops, forgot about Divx 3. I think I suppressed that memory.

There may be a VERY simple solution.

Rename them. That post showed the files were .divx files. Just rename them to .avi. The images you posted showed Divx 5 or 6 so it not the old 3.0 Divx.

Possible problem is the packed bitstream, some machines liked packed some don't. I think Avidemux can convert that without a re-encode.

MediaInfo may tell us more than Gspot. The images don't tell us if Global Motion compensation was used for instance and that doesn't work in any DVD player I have heard of. Same for Qpel.

I believe it should be 'XVID'.

(Also, just to be safe, on all files with the .divx extension, give them the .avi extension instead, as mentioned above. The .divx/Divx6 features won't do much for your player unless it's DivX Ultra-certified, anyway. Your player probably won't recognize any file with that extension, at any rate.)

Change the FourCC Description Code to "xvid" and the FourCC Used Codec to "XVID". Type them in if necessary.

Renaming .DIVX files to .AVI should help.

MPEG4Modifier (no re-encoding) can be used to remove packed bitstream if that's a problem.

I've seen a few mobile devices that require all keyframe Xvid. If you have one of those you will probably have to be re-encode with VirtualDub or AviDemux.
