Geez, installing this Phenom 9550 was probably a bad idea, from a smooth running 4800 system. Now I am getting runtime errors with software apps, almost all my softwares freezes up, on opening. Now I can't even use my softwares, all the errors within an hour, geez what next ??

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help. I have no idea what is causing all these freeze ups, memory mapping error, etc...

Did a processor change, update bios, I'm running 2 gigs ram, 800Mhz, 6400,. Maybe I don't have enough ram or somethin, but please help.
    Thanks

  2. did you make sure your motherboard supports the new processor before popping it in? and did you reset the bios to safe mode before booting windows with the new one? if not reset to safe and then make performance changes in the bios.

    Thanks for reply.

Yes, everything was installed correctly. I'm using an Asus M3A board, I called Asus and they told me the processer will work, just update the Bios.

Everything is working fine after restart, only continuing issue is system mechanic professional freezes up and trying to convert HD movies, video software freezes up, but everything else is working fine.

When I open up Asus PC probe, memory mapping error dialog box pop's up, and that's the only time.

I need to get a better aftermarket cooler for the cpu.

Hope someone can help me with memory mapping error, looked it up online, which wasn't much help.

  4. Check your temps, maybe you didn't install the HSF correctly? Perhaps you need to reseat it?

Is this new memory or the old memory? Run memtest64+ for a few hours.

Did you AMD download drivers for X4?

Thanks for reply. Tomorrow, I'm going to pick up an aftermarket heatsink/fan to see if that helps. Also, I'm using a low budget Thermaltake case $39.99, one rear fan and ps fan 400W. I bought a new case 650W PS, need to transfer to new case.

I jdownloaded AMD processor driver, memory mapping issue resolved. Now I just need to figure out why HD movies will not convert, keep getting runtime error, with Dr.Divx and Nero vision.

CPU temp dropped 54c - 55c, but still can come down alot more. Thanks for all your help.

After you updated the mobo bios did you set it default settings? Some mobo's have to be set to default settings in the bios. Reboot the pc then go into the mobo bios again and make the necessary changes that you want.

Your cpu temp is quite high. I'd suggest you reset the cpu and hsf.
