What program, and how do I make picture in picture video?
I want to make a video of a students face in the left hand corner of the screen while the main screen shows the work he is doing? I've seen videos like this, I just don't know how to make them.
Any ideas?

A full function editor like premier or vegas ($$)
But a free way to do it would be avisynth scripting - difficult learning curve but very powerful and free.
Here are some basics

A free AND simple method would be to use VirtualDub. Open your video and then use the built-in logo filter to place a still image of the student's face anywhere on-screen. I always suggest as simple an approach as will get the job done. No real need to have the student's face be motion video, as it may just visually distract from the main video action.

Ulead VideoStudio has motion overlays and is very easy to use.
You can mute the audio on the worker and play the audio from the person in the overlay. -
Here is the video tutorial to make a picture in picture video step by step. I know this question had already been asked several years ago, but i still want to share it to let more people saw it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RI4Q4QJiZc
