I'm using the 10.4.10 appliance. It doesn't like being updated and I haven't figured out a way to get more compatible video drivers on it but it works for testing purposes. Not sure about printing as that wasn't in scope on the project and I don't have a printer attached to that network. If I had to I'd probably just print to PDF and then carry it over to a network with a printer.Originally Posted by RLT69

FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming

I'm not really that concerned with overclocking. I was just following the H264 benchmark thread when I got this setup and was curious to see what it would do.
If I ever get different memory then I might give it another try but since I'm not a gamer and don't have any need to encode H264 at the moment (maybe if I can afford an HD media player in the future), I don't really have a need to overclock.
EDIT: I ran memtest and found no errors. -

good responses... good feedback... very informative and helpful.
I find myself curious about another bit now.
heh. I guess thats a pun. sorry.
I am curious... 32 vs 64. I mean I understand that in video game terms... you know nintendo 64... before that was 32 bit tech... before that 'turbo graphics 16' (remember that?).
anyway - my question is... as it relates to computers... and chips, I suppose... what is the difference between 32 and 64. How does that impact performance? I understand not all software can use 64 tech.... but it seems that it is growing....scratch the surface off a cynic - you will find a disillusioned idealist. -
I'm looking into the same issue:

Biggest difference with 32-bit and 64-bit OS is that not much is written for 64-bit so you're not really seeing any performance gain. In fact some apps don't like to run on 64-bit OS.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
All current mainstream x86 processors are 64 bit. They run in 32 bit mode unless you are using a 64 bit OS. Most applications do run appreciably faster when converted to 64 bits and run on a 64 bit OS. The biggest benefit of 64 bits is the ability to address more memory. And few desktop applications require more than the ~3 GB that 32 bit Windows supports.
