  1. Hey, all -

I recently purchased and installed a Pioneer DVR-115D burner and it has worked fine for about a week... now it fails to write the lead in on any type of disc (CD-R, DVD-R) whether I use IMGBurn or Nero. My other NEC burner is still working. I've swapped their physical positions and connections (master, slave) to see if maybe my IDE cable was bad or loose. The NEC still works and the Pioneer does not. It will read and play discs fine, but fails to write. Like I said, it was working great for about one week and just started acting up. Any ideas?

Here's a screen shot of what I get with IMGBurn:

Buy a new 80 wire ide cable for your PIONEER 115 drive. PIONEER drives like the master setting although I've used slave settings with no problems. ide cables can fail.

  3. That must be it - I just checked and my hard drives are connected with 80 wire IDE cables, but the two burners are connected with 40 wire IDE cables. I'll pick up another 80 wire IDE cable tomorrow. Thanks!

  4. The 80 wire IDE cable did the trick - it's working fine now.

    Thanks again, budz!
