    Properly, the avi is corrupt.
If your filesystem isn't NTFS (so fat or fat32) then be sure the avi is NOT larger than 2gig. If it is NTFS, then it shouldn't matter.
Re-open the AVI in VDub and save it again to a new file (best way to save avi's is to save to a file onto another disk - not the same : read/write opperations).
    Then try again.

Anyway, which version of TMPGenc are you using? Do you use a correct codec? Remember that a specific codec, installed on 1 system, not always is available at another system.
You must be serten that you can open the avi (completely) at your system, so best way is to open it in vdub and save it from vdub to another file.

  3. Thanks for your help Betamax my file system is fat32 and the AVI file is 244mgs.

This is all new to me. what is VDUB and how do I open it and save it with VDUB.

I am using TMPGEnc 2.5. I have put Nimo Codec Pack 4.4.

I opened the AVI file completely in Windows Media.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition
