My question is do you really have to by "duplicator'' cases? Sometimes, I see regular pc cases for cheaper than duplicator cases. Couldn't you use pc case if you don't mind the ugliness? As long as you know it has enough bays for what you need and power supply.

Or, is there something important about duplicator cases? I ask because when I search pc stores online and stuff, they separate pc cases and duplicator cases.

    Thanx in advance.

Duplicators normally use a dedicated card for controlling the source hard drive and the burner optical drives. But you could do about the same with any computer, several optical drives and a program like Nero or similar that can burn with more than one drive at a time. Burning different data to different burners can be a problem. But if it's all the same, easy enough.

    A few duplicator cards: http://www.utimall.com/index.php?cPath=73

I have built several duplicator systems. The main problem was a power supply to handle the number of dives you wish to use plus is the case capable of mounting that number of drives.
Next do you have a controller card capable of handling those drives and does the software support it. We usually had a dedicated controller just for this purpose that had built if firmware.

Yeah, I understand about the controller card, the power supply and the drives. I want to gather the pieces to build one. I know what card I want and I know what drives are compatible with that card. The only final decision to make is the case. What I want to know is if duplicator cases are any different than PC cases? For example, is the controller card wider therefore duplicator cases are special and made with a wider bay that will fit a controller card?

From my understanding and the pictures I've seen, the size of the controller card looks about the same as any other add-ons that you would slot into a PC bay. I found a pc case with 5 bays, it's perfect and cost less than $25. I'm thinking why can't I just use this instead of buying a duplicator case?

So do you guys think I can use a PC case?
