Hi All,
I would like to use my USB Stick at work with the portable apps software installed http://portableapps.com/suite. The problem I am having is that when I go to load any of the software I get the message you do not have enough administrative privileges on this computer. I was under the impression that these programs ran from the USB stick so that their would be no need to install anything on the computer they are being run on?
I have done a little research and come across VMWare Thinapp but this is not Freeware. Does anyone know if their is a Freeware program similar to this or perhaps a work around so that I can use the programs at work? I get the impression that .exe files are somehow blocked.
Thanks in advance for any info / advice.

I think that won't work. If you can't install a file on the pc because of restrictions than you can't. That is what your IT department was instructed to do.

Cheers for the reply. The thing is I don't want to install the programs onto the computer I want to run them from my USB stick. No installation necessary.

yoda313 is correct. You can only if you have admin privileges - talk to your IT guy
It works when you try it out at home (logged in as admin) -
I'm wondering though - is there net based or flash apps that don't need to be installed?

chrissilke74,
I used to run several of the PortableApps from a USB stick on machines I didn't have administrator privileges on. Depends on how things are set up. Check this discussion here:
