SVCD2DVD quits unexpectingly ...

hello ... first i must thank you for the programme - great and easy to use for my needs. my problem - and this just occurred out of now where - is that SVCD2DVD won't start now. that it ... i open it and it will show the main screen for 3 secs before quiting unexpectingly. everytime. i have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but this happens over and over again. anyboby else have this prob? what can i do? i ahve the latest version 2.5.33 and am running XP SP2 ... shd i download SP3?

as added information ... i recently installed/activated a non english language for non unicode windows programme (i selected chinese (prc) in the control panel for reginal and language option). just to test an idea out ... i have removed the chinese language and it seems that SVCD2DVD does not quit unexpectedly now. i was tipped off to do this when i opened the "initial" file in the svcd2dvd folder and it was in chinese. now it is in symbols but the program stays open. will test to see if it works. anybody has any idea what is going on?
