  1. Whenever I install a new screen saver (it happens with all), it will install all of the corrsponding files for that screen saver. If I go to c:\windows\System32 the corresponding scr files are installed and can be executed as well as the C:\Program Files folder corresponding to that screen saver, but it will not be added to the XP Screen Saver list (right click on desktop/Properties/Display Properties/Screen Saver tab/Screen saver drop down list). Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.
(My system is a Windows XP Pro SP3 and the issue was still present when it was SP2).

Don't use screen savers! They make your domputer slow.

  3. Yes I agree, screensavers make your PC consume more energy, they waste your monitor faster and they can be bad for your OS as they very often hide spyware and other malware. For these reasons I never set my PC to activate any screensaver, and before installing them I thoroughly scan them with various antimalware programs. I just rarely use them in manual mode.

  4. Sounds like the SCR is failing to register. That means you may have some malware or spyware that is blocking registry changes.
SCRs are very dangerous they can cause alot of problems.
Be very careful when installing them.
