  1. I want to edit some videos by selecting individual frames, and i want to be able to view them in an album-like style.

I want for example to select i time frame. start-end in time format, and then display frames in thumbnails,so i can then extract them and do whatever's nesecary.

  2. Try DGMPGDec.
I used it yesterday and saw it has a save to bmp option.

  3. Most programs have such an option.I'm looking for a video editing programm that does exactly what i describe. If that is not possible i can resort to vdub and save a picture sequence andthen create a photo album catalog.

But I want that to be done from inside a video editing application.

  4. Still no solution? My cause is a serious one,and i want this done the right way.It concerns a photogrammetric application.I will shoot a video and i will then need to extract some frames and apply certain transfaromations. But in order to do that i need:

First, a gallery view of the frames so i can scan through them and decide which fits my purpose.

And then a way to export it,without any conversions.compressions, and encoding taking place, cause every pixel counts.

Will someone here kindly help my achieve my goal?

You might have a look at VideoReDo.

When using that program in edit mode, you can center on a point in a video clip of interest, and, if the program is in "filmstrip" mode (right-click on the screen and toggle view) with the settings put to show every frame, about a half dozen frames on either side of the center point will show in the thumbnail view below the main screen. Simplly clicking on any of the frames will make that frame the center point around which will be its surrounding frames.

Any selected frame can be exported as a photo.

  7. Well let me rephrase.I can extract frames and use lightroom to create an album so i'm not so bother by the video editing software doing that any more.

Now all i need is the best way to extract pictures from a video.

JPG is lossy, and i may mis info i need.BMP/Tif/Targa may still not get it a 100%.

What quality are the frames of a video encoded file? For example is there a way for a decoder to interpret a frame difrentl on a different time?

BMP/Tif/TGA will look identical to the source. They use lossless compression, so not further damage is done.

What do you think you will be missing ?

  9. Dunno, colour information of sources pixel?

But If they're 100% identical then I guess that what i need is accomplished.
