I don't upload to YouTube all the time but I do upload once in a while.
You guys probably know more about this than I do.
If I am incorrect about some of the facts in my explanation, please let me know.
I've read that YouTube will be converting all videos to a new format.
I've also heard that YouTube will be converting videos to high quality.
I just want to clear any misconception/confusion/misunderstanding that I have.
1.) Will old videos that have been on YouTube for a few years (2006, 2007), be converted to a new format?
2.) If YouTube starts making all videos in high quality, will videos that have been uploaded a few months to a few years ago (2006 and 2007) also be converted to high quality? Or will only new videos that are uploaded be converted to high quality?
3.) If my video that I uploaded to YouTube is crisp and clear by using a hack, etc., will my videos always be crisp and clear on YouTube? Are there any possibilities that my videos will go to low quality, pixilated, blurry? (I ask this because I want to try one of the hacks/tricks. I don't want to get good quality only to have it become low quality in the future.)
Clarification: By high quality, I mean crisp and clear videos before clicking "watch in high quality" or "&fmt=18". Meaning, crisp and clear without having to click the high quality button or &fmt=18.

1) Videos I uploaded in 2007 are being converted. Some I uploaded on the same day, in the same format have and some have not.
2) I don't know about all videos but some of my '07s have. I have a video I uploaded in February 2008 with 37,500 views that has not been converted. Adding "&fmt=18" will make it high quality. Some November 2007 videos with only a few thousand views have been converted. It all seems to be very arbitrary.
I've been uploading recent videos in divx and mp4 and they are available in "high quality" within the hour. -
I have videos going back to a year ago.. and it appears that:
If you uploaded the video with a 320x240 size, it will not show the higher quality version unless you add the &fmt=18. but the quality is not any better.
If you uploaded at 640x480 then you will get the high qaulity showing eventually.
I made the mistake of uploading in 320x240 as the 640x480 videos yielded horrible compression a year ago. Now I only upload 640x480 or 640x360 only.
