    im havin wmv file so i want to cut the video...which software is helpful.....n then i want to convert the file to avi...

    Two options - first you can edit wmv with Windows Movie Maker assuming you are using windows xp or later.

    Next there MAY be a version of virtualdub that accepts wmv input. I just don't know which version.

    WINAVI can convert wmv to avi. As can many others. Try with the latest build of virtualdubmod or virtualdubmpeg2 first though, they are free.

    you need a gui for asfbin, use cut assistant
