  2. There should be a program called AudioSel.exe on your WinTV installation CD. (It might also be available on Hauppuage's web site.) You can use this to select the appropriate audio source immediately before capture. It might even work during capture (if the audio switches after a few seconds). Using AudioSel.exe may fix your problem.

  3. I don't know if this will help you, but it's worth a shot..

I just got my WinTV dbx card today, and started fooling around with it. I had the EXACT same problem (Audio was fine during capturing, but I could barely hear it when I played the capture back).

I double-clicked the 'speaker' ICON in my tray (volume control), and clicked on 'OPTIONS', and then 'PROPERTIES'. Once in there, I changed the 'adjust volume for' radio button to 'RECORDING' (it was on 'PLAYBACK'). After doing that, my volume control window changed to 'RECORDING CONTROL', where I discoverd the 'SELECT' check box under MIC was checked. I checked the 'SELECT' box under 'LINE IN' instead, and captured a new clip. Sound was MUCH better..

Hope this helps anyone having similar problems.

(As a side benefit - I can't understand why, but this also seemed to greatly reduce the number of dropped frames I was getting - tackling that project is next).
