    Hey everyone,

I am using an NVidia 8600GT video card to run a Dell 2407WFPHC and a Dell 1707FP. The program Media Player Classic will not display video when on my second monitor. It plays the audio, but displays a black screen instead of the video. If I move the MPC window to my primary screen, the video is there just fine.
I am using the most up to date drivers from nvidia and win xp sp3.
About a week ago I had to do a system restore from a Norton Ghost Image. Before the restore, the video played back fine on both screens.

Please help me fix this. Thanks for any help.

  2. Fiddle the video overlay settings. These are in the "Video and Television" section of the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Thanks for the quick reply jagabo, but that isn't going to do it. (unless you can point to something more specific in that setting window).

However, I have played around with the output settings in MPC and using VMR9 (renderless) has allowed me to have seemless vidoe playback as before.

So I guess I solved it for myself. I hope it helps others as well.
But does anyone know why the default in MPC doesn't allow this to work?

    Thanks again.

  4. It's not MPC's fault. Your Video Overlay isn't working correctly. It's very common with newly installed or upgraded video drivers for the video overlay settings to be screwed up. You can sometimes fix it simply by adjusting the overlay settings.

Also try disabling hardware acceleration and then re-enabling it from Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot -> Hardware Acceleration. Turn it all the way down, Apply, then turn it back up and Apply. Doing this often fixes whatever went wrong during the installation/upgrade.

    Hello All,

Being having problems with the dreaded BSOD in windows 7 so I downloaded the latest version of Media Player Classic (MPC) from SourceForge hoping the possible driver issue causing BSOD would be corrected.

I'm running a Radeon HD5670. I have two displays, HDMI output to display number 2.

When I installed MPC I had audio output only on my second display, video output only on my primary display. The normal behaviour prior to the re install of MPC was no video or audio displayed on monitor 1, just the MPC window showing that DXVA was running and the video file position along with the volume control.

The solution for me was to open my ATI Radeon control center and switch from extended desktop to duplicate and then start MPC and run a file which was viewable on both displays. I then closed MPC and restarted the ATI Radeon control center and switched from duplicate display back to extended desk top.

This did the trick. Media Player Classic is now working correctly and all is well with video play back on display 2.
