Let me first say that I am a wealthy college student who gets everything that is necessary to reap the benifits of free shit. When the CDR came out I had it and when the mod chip for the Playstation came out I had that too.
My real question is... is it really the right time for DVD-R rips? I mean, I understand ripping DVDs for people that have them but when you really think about it the only people that have DVD burners are the people that need them and the people that need them to pirate shit, but not really.
I will be honest. It is my birthday soon and I have several options for birthday presents. One of my options is a DVD-R or whatever type of DVD burner drive I want. However, since I have read the FAQ on ripping a DVD to a DVD I realized that TRUE DVD ripping isn't around.
My real question is: when will the time come when we can rip DVDs with limited quality loss or with no quality loss at all? The main reason I am not buying a DVD burner is because there is no 9 gig media that can support the DVDs that are on the market today.
CDR's revolutionized the past and at the same time they didn't. 650meg CDR's limited the stuff that we burned. But now any cd that is available can be downloaded and transfered to 70 minute/700 meg CDR.
When will the time come when we can rip DVD's cleanly? Or will it never come? I am just wondering if I should invest in a DVDR or a 100Gig HD.
Thank you in advance, not to mention that I am VERY drunk,
-bonks.
