  1. Ok Ive tried everything... technically this is the problem... when I capture something to avi using Huff codec and then try to encode with CCE, it gives me a buffer underflow error....

Now I tried to use the PICVideo MJpeg codec.... the avi looks great... but when i try to encode... it works for bout a minute then give me this error message:

cce encoding failed: ICDecompressEx() failed (-367)

I really need to get this fixed... any help would be appreaciated

    TY

  4. Are you opening the avi with cce or frameserving?
Frameserving solved all of my problems with cce.

  5. Hi!
Just thought I'd add my experience .........

I'm using CCE2.62 and I get a buffer overflow (I assume 'ovf' means 'overflow'?) when I try encoding a long 'fake' AVI.
    (ie. 'fake' as in VFAPI-converted)

It happens more often when I try to split the output files into two or more by setting the frames to encode.
I'm using Win98SE on an Athlon 1700XP by the way.

    Anybody had this before??

When I frameserve from VDub (via VFAPI-conv1.03b), it works without a problem ....... but it is significantly slower - 1.5fps for straight AVI and 0.8fps for a frameserved version!! grrrrrr

Any ideas would be much appreciated .....

    Cheers,
    Sue xxx

overflow? Do you encode to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2?

  7. Hi Truman (again!)

It was an MPEG2 encode with pretty modest bitrates of ave.1150 min.450 max.2200 ready for xSVCD.

However, when I got the errors I was encoding a DVD rip at full resolution (720x576).
I've still to do a few more tests, but, as far as I can tell, it only seems to happen on long encodes (120mins) that I've split by setting the 'in-out' frames and doing two 4pass VBR encodes.

That's all the info I have at the moment ...... any ideas?

Sometimes I get a different 'error' where CCE2.62 stops well before the end of the movie.
The readout that shows elapsed time, estimated time, encode rate etc.
suddenly goes weird and the encode rate starts to rise from around 1.2fps upto 35fps!!
The estimated time starts to rapidly increase as well.
This goes on for about 30seconds before CCE 'bails-out' and just comes to a grinding halt!
No error message, no nothing ....... I mean it looks as though it's finished encoding OK!!

Anyhow, any input would be appreciated ..... I'll get back to you with any new developments.

    Thanks mate,

    Sue xxx

This is a dropped frame. Capture PicVideo MJPEG using AVI_IO with the "Insert Drops As Full Frames" option enabled and that should solve the problem.
