  1. I ordered a computer that has a 100gb PVR and a DVD-R/RW burner with external front and rear audio/video inputs. Is it true that you cannot record directly to the internal DVD recorder, but must first record onto the PVR and then transfer onto the DVR recorder?

    Thanks,

You have to capture/record first and then author and burn the dvdr. Buy a standalone dvd recorder if you want to record and burn directly to dvdrs.

  4. Well if you wanna get MyDVD 3.0 from Sonic they have a direct to DVD-R feature. Not sure how well it works because i use DVDit! PE and it doesn't have the direct to DVD feature in the latest upgrade. According to the www.sonic.com web site it says you can go right from any analog or digital source directly to DVD without any extra steps, as easy as hitting record on a VCR. I think it's gonna be extreamly limited on bitrate settings and quality. I also believe you can get a program from MedioStream that does a direct to DVD-R program at http://www.mediostream.com/

Hope this helps. But if you really want good results, capture, encode, and author in seperate steps.

  5. Thanks for the responses guys. I have the new Sony PCV-RX690G on order, and it comes with an integral PVR, DVD-R/RW and DVDit. I will probably use the capture/author/burn method to get the best results as you described.
