    Hi,

I'm quite well known with computers but this problem can't be solved by me. Here's the thing: I did a lot of work on dv-video on my system. Stopped like 9 months with the work. Now I'm trying to play the allready captured dv-files and import them to powerdirector 7 and this failed! I installed quite a bit new stuff on my computer, but i can't think of anything that may have changed something bad.

After trying to get some info using G-spot i thought it was the dv-codec i had installed. I tryed all other dv codecs (for type 1, canopus mainconcept panasonic etc) but nothing worked. My last try will be reinstalling the windows dv codec but i can't find it anywhere on the net, any ideas?

I thought of installing windows on another disk and dualboot my system and use one install for videoediting but i don't really want to do that......

but maybe there's a simple solution to the problem? Pleas help and look into the screenshot.

    thanx in advance,
    Richard

Power Director uses an intermal MainConcept DV codec. External codecs may add to the problem. Just uninstall the Power Director program and reinstall from CD, then add updates from the web.

    Thanks for the fast answer.

it isn't only powerdirector. the files play in no program at all. MP, Bsplayer, vlc, nothing worked. Except quicktime but that program uses his own decoder. and i caputere with windv and that doesn't work either anymore.

and capturing with windows moviemaker for instance doesn't work either. My guess is it is something deeply windows related.

i'll try reinstalling powerdirector anyway. it may work. do you have any other ideas?

Looks like your system is trashed. May be time for the dreaded reformat reinstall of XP.

If a new program install won't work, there is little more to help.

Before you do anything drastic, go to the Tools section of this site and download VCswap. This will allow you to disable all DV codecs except one, so that you don't have any more codec conflicts. Try that before doing a reinstall of XP.
