Hi, every time I try to play a HD Quicktime movie trailer my computer locks up and I have to reset it. I have the latest version of quicktime and I have WinXP service pack 3 version 3244. It will download the movie but as soon as I hit play my computer freezes. Any ideas?

You have no info about your video card, RAM memory, etc. Difficult to diagnose your problem.

I have an Nvidia 7900gs video card and 3 gigs of RAM. Sorry I didn't post that but I've never had problems with my video card and Quicktime only recently started to crash my computer. I don't use it very much so I can't remember if it was after an update or anything. Since I posted I've found out that it only crashes when trying to play 720p. Non-high def works fine.

If you installed another program it might be trying play quicktime files instead. I think, therefore i am a hamster.

Uninstall quicktime and try quicktime alternative together with mpc.

 Or try play with VLC.
