I have a mov file with an audio track. I'm unable to convert the file to flv if I check the encode audio box. It doesn't matter which audio codec I pick. The result is always an empty file. If I uncheck the encode audio box it converts the video to flash, but of course without sound. I also tried adding audio from an mp3 file; this also results in an empty file if I try to encode the audio.

For the record, I'm not that advanced a user. I've seen a lot of command line solutions that involve terminal. It's beyond me, I'm sorry to say. I need something "For Dummies," like a GUI oriented solution.

With the .mov file opened in QuickTime Player, do a Cmd-I (Show Movie Inspector). The Movie Inspector should list which video codec and audio codec are used. Please tell us those codecs.
Also, the left side of the Summary tab in ffmpegX should tell some details on the video and audio in the source file.
