Hi all
Just spent ages renaming all my avi files under vista.
Sent them to my PS3 and low and behold they still have their original file names. Tried them on media player on Vista and sure enough, their original filename.
Say I have a file called aaa.avi.
I right click on file, click rename and change aaa to xyz.
I now double click on xyz.avi and media player shows it's playing aaa.avi.
Hope that makes sense. I tried downloading the program abcavi but the tags section is showing the file as I renamed it.
Sure it's a simple one for you good folk.
Thanks

Someone on AVforum gave me the answer.
Simply move the renamed files to another folder on Vista.
Sure enough, this worked -
Only on Vista would it somehow be necessary to move a file to another folder to make renaming work. At Microsoft, quality is job none.
