  1. I have a Powerpoint presentation I need to convert as-is for use in a project. I filmed a local high school graduation and this presentation was shown and is something the students worked on for a long time so I want to preserve it. The whole thing is about 15 minutes.

I've already tried a few methods. I tried Bytescout PPT To video Scout first. I end up with a weird length video with messed up resolution.

Someone suggested a software called PPTmovie. I spent $40 on the license and tried it. When trying to use any AVI codec I get a 3 minute movie of the whole show sped up 5X. I tried saving as MOV file and I get a 1 second video of the whole show. Both programs I tried on my desktop and laptop. I've emailed tech support for PPTmovie but haven't heard back yet.

I even tried using the video out of my ATI card and hooking my camcorder up as the second monitor and recording the output. That just looked terrible. So my only other option if I can't export directly is to export the slides as individual JPEG or PNG files and import them into Vegas and recreate the show as best as possible. I know Vegas well. This would just be more time consuming and I really wanted to preserve what the students worked so hard on.

  2. How about any screen recording software such as Wink, Camtasia, CamStudio etc?

    An example of doing it:

  3. I'll give that a shot tonight and see how it works. What annoys me is that I paid for that other program and there's no apparent reason why it's not working. It goes through the entire show in real time and goes through the compression part taking a legitimate amount of time to compress a 15 minute video and then it's all messed up.

  4. Depends on what version PPP you are using. But generally you don't get very impressive results because there is so much coding that has to be converted.

  5. I got a refund on the program I bought. The screen recording looked surprisingly good but thetransitions lagged a small bit because of multiple events having to take place at once.

I am rebuilding it in Vegas to be as close to the original as possible. It will still satisfy everyone.

  6. This was quite a while back and not even an issue anymore.

I exported each slide as a JPEG and built teh slideshow in Vegas. They were not concerned about having the exact same transitions, just that it followed the same songs that were in the original.
