  1. some times I post my vids

I use MacPar Delux then Osiris to post them

I usually use the Y-Enc encoding on Osiris

once I forgot and it had no encoding

in this day and age w high speed, what is the advantage/disadvantage of encoding or not?

    cheers

Usenet servers are like a big peer-to-peer network, where they copy posts from each other. This only works reliably if the servers all speak the same 'language'. Like with most internet messaging systems, some (non-printable) characters are reserved for special purposes or have a special meaning. Encoding takes care of that, and yEnc in a most efficient way (little overhead). Encoded binary attachments should not corrupt as easily.

Forgetting to set an encoding type for a binary attachment should result in encoding it anyway with some default method (maybe QP?) to avoid corruption. I said 'should', because it is up to the programmer to implement that.
