I noticed on some videos, especially on zooming that the display splits into about 100 one inch quare boxes and each box is fuzzy.
Is this due to the type of card? The amount of memory? Anyone seen this effect before ?
I have a 128MB video card. My 64 MB card did not do this, but it was blurry when trying to zoom.
Any help is appriciated.
Thanks
Bill

Youtube is, for the most part, low resolution, low bitrate video. It is already blocky to begin with, so blowing it up all will only enhance the appearance of artifacts.
Just out of curiosity, are you running at a higher resolution with this card than with your previous card ?Read my blog here.

No, same resolution, set to high and same screen size. I have noticed some of the video is clearer then with my old card. And it's a lot smotther and faster.
I'm having some real trouble with CODECS
I tried the mega pack from K-lite and it caused the video to lag behind the audio.
I removed it and now some of the videos will not play. I used AVI-CODEC to see what CODEC it needs, and they all say X-vid, but some play and some do not. Are there diffeent types of X-vid ?
Stanger still, they play in AVIPREVIEW, but not WMP.
Any ideas ? Is there a safe way to find and add CODEC's ?
Thanks

I believe the ATI cards have better deblocking support built into the drivers. I seems to remember there being settings for this on my previous card that are not apparent on the nVidia card in my current system. This could well be the difference you are seeing.
Ahh, the joy of codec packs. And yet people still blindly defend their use.
Once you have identified the codec you need, you can go the the Tools section, then the codecs subsection, and download the latest version of the one you are missing or that isn't working. Codecs, like most software, get refined and improved over time. Sometimes this means that video compressed with a newer version won't play as well (or sometimes at all) with an older version of the codec. More likely, in this case, k-lite has broken Xvid when uninstalling. The system thinks it is there, but it doesn't work. WMP relies solely on the right codecs being installed at the system level, so if they aren't there or are broken, it won't play. Other programs, such as VLC, The KM Player, and probably AVIPreview, use their own codecs are aren't dependent on the system codecs, so they will play (almost) anything, regardless of how screwed the system codecs might be. I rarely use WMP any more because it is simply more reliable to go elsewhere. I use it only for testing playback for other systems.Read my blog here.
