That's an interesting list of projects, but many the links I followed led to ghost-town websites or didn't look promising. There doesn't seem to be any great alternative to VideoPad yet.

Note to project leaders : maintain a website with a news page that gives us an indication that you still care and you're still developing the project! And screenshots, for heaven's sake, are absolutely vital to show us why we should be interested!

So, are any of them still being developed?

  2. These two(Linux) are in very active development:
    Open Shot Video: http://www.openshotvideo.com/
    Kdenlive: http://kdenlive.org/

The upcoming Blender 2.5 is going to be a milestone in many ways - however I don't know if it's NLE will get a push forward.

Pitivi might be ported to windows: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.pitivi.general/503
    And more here: http://www.pitivi.org/wiki/PiTiVi_on_Windows

BTW. I don't think any of those developers are reading this thread. If you want to say anything to them this isn't the place.

  3. Avisynth Studio is a NLE UI based on avisynth. It's pretty new, but it seems to move fast, so keep an eye out on this one.

  4. Pitivi is in the process of beeing ported to windows. Though there are a few errors, the interface part is working quite well.

If you want to test run it you can find an installer here.

    That's all good info, thanks

PiTiVi on Windows would be great once it's stable with titles and transitions, I look forward to that!

The Doom9 forum is hard to reach due to DNS problems at the moment.
    For Avisynth Studio info :

Now back on DNS correctly and up to page 4 on the thread

Also, the link posted by tin2tin was wrong anyway - it should have had t=150873, not t=15087.

  8. I corrected the link above. Sorry about that. The first alpha of Blender 2.5 has been released btw. Not too sure that anything changed in the sequence-editor functions, but the interface has a new look and feel.

EDIT: There is a new version of Avisynth Studio out.

  10. Openshot is now included in a live-linux-DVD, which means you can use on a windows box it without installing Linux:
