    hello there
i am about to start a massive project to turn my 950 movie ( avi ) collection into a DVDs
i already managed the boxes and the empty dvds but i need some advice on couple of thing before i start

    first
i was thinking about getting my self a barcode scanner just to identify the movie and get all the info about using my already built collection by using Extreme movie manager (http://www.binaryworks.it/extrememoviemanager/features.aspx)
but because my movies where downloaded using torrent and most of them are in avi or mkv format
i don't think that they have any sort of barcodes on them
so how can i add barcodes into my movies so i can get the full IFO file when i convert them into dvds using probably convertXtodvd v3 ( i need the ifo file to be their so the database building program can read the barcodes correctly )

    second
whats the best way to creat some kind of a cool animated menu for my movies
i know their are some pro programs but i cant do that for 950 movie ? so are like menu templates that i can add to the dvd ?
or can any one suggest a better way

    third
    about the bar codes
after they are in the IFO file of the dvd
whats the best practical way to place them on the box ?
and are there any good barcode scanners that you wouldve recommend

thats the basic questions that i thought of for now
by the way this is for building my own personal database not for a store or something so no need for heavy dutty equipment and stuff
again this is for personal use

    thanks in advanced

    Edit : 1 more quistion
i was thinking that i need to get ( or rent ) a pc that have multiple dvd burners for this project
whats the most important things that i have to bare in mind while assembling the pc
    i was thinking ( 2 g ram , 3 dvdburners x12 , and a cooling system )

Barcodes are printed on the DVD cases. If you want barcodes, buy the movies instead of downloading pirate versions. Even if you own a DVD, downloading a ripped version is illegal.

Where - in the movie ? On the disc ? As a subtitle ? There is no barcode on a DVD except for the physical barcode on the cover. Period.

Look for a barcode font. Google is your friend.

    Ditto for barcode scanners.

However, how are you going to know that the barcode should be for some downloaded file ?

This whole project seems like a massive waste of time unless you are trying to create pirate DVDs that look half legitimate. Is this some type of eBay scam in the making ?

There is software that will print barcodes.

There is free software that will catalog your collection, and even connect with the imdb (based on title name) to update the info contained. Irregardless of the legality of your collection;.

If you want to see a product intended for your idea, check out Cyberguys.com.

Look for a carousel item that holds around 150 discs. It also has software and a barcode reader to do exactly as discussed.

The barcode is on the DVD case, not the DVD.

For that, you just download the original cover - available all over the Net...
    With barcode and all...
For my Private Collection I edit the original covers: changing the faces. Just 4 fun.
