  1. My client has supplied me with an eDrawings file (.eprt) - it's a rendered file from AutoCAD showing a 3d layout of a drawing.

I'd like to somehow convert this file to AVI or a video file compatible with Premiere Pro CS3.

Has anyone ever done this conversion before?

If not, any suggestions? I don't have any save as or export options for the .eprt file....I might need to do a video screen capture.

If I do need to do a screen capture, any suggestions on something to use that captures 3d animation into AVI and is free?

There is a program call "eDrawings Viewer" that I have used to view Autocad drawings and it says that it can even view .eprt files. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.edrawingsviewer.com/pages/programs/download/index.html.

You might be able to export individual frames, or even use an ALT-PRTSCRN to capture them one-at-a-time. Once done, you can import them into Premiere as an image sequence (or use an AVISynth script to do the same).

  4. There are a lot of frames to capture. Can that be done automatically with AVI Synth? If so, do you have a script for that function?

If it can be READ by AVISynth, converting the video to anything is no problem. However, most of these proprietary programs don't use DirectDraw filters, so you are a prisoner of the proprietary program's import/export capabilities.

As a last resort, I would single-step through the video and do a screen capture, frame-by-frame. It sucks, but it works very well.

  7. I haven't been able to find a way to move forward a frame at a time with this software to do screen captures. Can anyone recommend a video screen capture program I can use to capture the visuals from this program? I will be using the video in Premiere Pro DV Widescreen format.

Why don't you post a link to your video so others could see exactly what your problems are?

  9. It's not a video file, it's an exe file.
