hello i am trying to extract the h.264 video from an mkv using mkvextract gui for mkvtoolnix and ive done this many many times with no problems but now im trying to extract from a hdtv lotrtt and i only get 34,808kb of it. audio and subs will extract fine just not the video. the movie does play fine in vlc so basically if anyone has any idea of why this might be happening would be great. thanks

VLC is designed to be very robust with damaged video files. It sounds like you have a file that is corrupt, and although VLC is able to recover and continue playing past this point, extract utilities require an undamaged file in order to be able to read and process correctly.

With mkv files it is only by inference. They are a PITA format to work with. try something like GotSent to see if you can repackage it. If not, bin it. If you can, try extracting from the new package.

bin it as in throw it in the bin as it is corrupt and unusable.

Why do you want to extract the streams ? What are you planning to do with them ?

So try GotSent or Xenonmkv instead. Both take mkv files and repackage them for the xbox.
