    Hello,

I downloaded an ISO file (a 4.5GB DVD) which is an image from a DVD movie.
I then extracted the files and got the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders.
Audio_TS is empty. Video_TS has various VOB, IFO and BUP files.

I am having a few problems:

    1. IFO files are:
    Video_TS, VTS_02_0, VTS_03_0, VTS_04_0, VTS_05_0, VTS_06_0, VTS_07_0, VTS_08_0

I am not able to open Video_TS but the others I am. I am not sure which one should I use.

    2. I also want high quality so I selected 3 CD's ... which one has bigger quality? 2CD's or 3CD's?
I suppose is 3CD's ... it says it occupies more space.

    3. I see 6 language subtitles. How can I add an extra subtitle language from a file?
And what is the best place to get subtitles?

    4. I want to keep the Audio Quality which is Dolby AC3.
Which option should I use? Auto or Original?

    5. My movie is 16:9. Which aspect option should I use? 16:9 or Original? I have 16:9 selected.

I am using AutoGK and also downloaded and instaled the last beta version.

    Thank You,
    Miguel

    1. Use VOBMErge to create a single large VOB and process that instead.

    2. Are you putting the final files on CD ? If not, don't use the preset sizes, but choose a bitrate to get the size you need. You will need to use a bitrate calculator to do this. The advantage is you get a single file instead of parts. Note : you need to keep individual files under 2GB in size if you are writing them to DVD.

    3. Google will find you subtitles. You can use the subtitle field to add external subs in the SRT format

    4. Keep the file over 300 MB and you will keep the original audio if you choose to. The option to keep it in under Advanced Options.

    5. I would keep the original and let your player/TV sort out what black bars are needed to keep it looking correct.

    2. I am getting confused. I am a newbie in this ...
In this forum I got various advices in different directions.
Some persons say to use about half of the bit rate of the original movie.
Other persons say to use the predefined values.

I want to use my movies in my computer or Play Station 3.
In my case I want a good quality movie more than a small size movie.

    3. But when I rip to a DivX will I have a menu to choose my subtitles?
I would like to have two subtitles options ... how is this done?

    Thank You,
    Miguel

There is no absolute bitrate value. It depends on the video itself as much as anything. The best suggestion is to use quality based encode instead, and let the file size be whatever is necessary. AutoGK uses a percentage value instead of the usual quantifier value. Start at 90 % and do a test encode. Test again at 80%. Find which one looks best to you.

Only Divx Ultra in the .divx container supports menus. AutoGK created Xvid files will not have menus for subtitles. Your standalone player and/or PS3 may support basic subtitle selection, or it may just cycle through the subs when you press the subtitle button.

    1. I merged the VOB files as suggested but now when I input that VOB file in AutoDK I don't get any subtitles in the subtitles panel. Shouldn't show the available subtitles in the original movie?

    Thanks,
    Miguel

Can you post a screenshot of the file list from the vide-TS folder. I suspect you are in fact missing some files, which is not unusual for downloaded DVD ISOs. You should not have to merge if your structure is complete, but I suspect yours isn't.

  7. I don't get any subtitles in the subtitles panel.
If you want to keep any of the subtitles you'll have to load the IFO for the VTS that contains the movie. Loading VOBs, either the originals or the merged, won't then allow you to get any subtitles.

You can't load a bitrate into AutoGK you can do either a 2-pass for a specific size or a 1-pass Target Quality for a specific quality. The default 75% is good. You might even consider reading the included tutorial, also found online. It explains everything in more detail than you'll ever want to know:

How can I add an extra subtitle language from a file?
Use the CTRL-F8 trick. Here's the Baldrick guide:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic316471.html

But that's going to "burn" or "embed" the subs into the video. If you really want selectable subs, you'll want to keep the subs external to the video and choose them in the player, using a format (SRT, SSA, IDX/SUB, whatever) that your player supports. This may mean converting the IDX/SUB subs to a text-based format.
And what is the best place to get subtitles?
There are several places listed here:
