I am trying to record from AVI format (340x240) to VHS tape.
I have a new VCR, and the quality of the recorded tape...to put it bluntly sucks.
Does this have anything to do with the Macrovisio (what ever that is)?
If or if not how do I get a good quality VCR tape?
and what is Macrovision?

Macrovision deliberately weakens some of the color signal on a tape or DVD. Supposedly a TV ignores or is immune to the weakened signal, but if you pass the signal through a 2nd tuner or record it to tape, the picture is scrambled. Symptoms are pictures with distorted or no color and distorted geometry such as parts of the image being stretched or offset horizontally.
If you're outputting to tape, Macrovision is not your problem. Macrovision is only present when playing prerecorded tapes and DVDs.
