  1. I just picked up a DC-30 Pro (to replace my ATI All In Wonder Radeon) and I am having several problems with it and have some questions for those of you who have this card...

    The problems:

In Windows ME, when using the default settings from the MiroVideo Capture, I get a black horizontal line on the right side of the screen. When trying to change any of the default settings (color, contrast, data rate, etc.) the picture either blacks out of the machine will lose video and have to be rebooted

In Windows 2000, when playing back the captures, regardless of the settings, it is very jumpy and looks real bad.

I am still using the ATI card as my normal video card and suspect that as being part of the problem.

I have the 1.42 drivers installed in both ME and 2K.

    The questions:

What operating system are you capturing with?
What video card are you running with?
What program (MiroVideo Capture, VirtualDub, etc.) are you capturing with?

I was really looking forward to better quality captures with this card, particularly seeing some of the videos out there created with it, but thus far, due to the varying problems, have been pretty disappointed thus far...

    Some Help????

    Thanks.... Y2J....

    I don't have a dc30, I had a DC10, kinda the same, DC30 max rez 704x480 DC10 640x480, and the DC30 has great 3rd party software bundle.

Pinnacle has some serious problems with computers using VIA chipsets. If that's your case, try to update your drivers. That's why I returned mine. Worked great for about 2-3 weeks, then nothing but trouble. Their forums are flodded with pissed people over the lack of support. In the wanted features section #1 is NT drivers(DC30's work for some DC10's), and #2 is a working card

Every time I would change the settings, color, contrast, like you, same thing, needed to restart.

The line on the right side? Like the video has been shifted to the left? Pinnacle's problem. It's usually on the left side though. Just crop it out with V-Dub, or if you planned on using TMPG, do it there.

Have you upped your AVI cache to 4mb? I think there's an option for that in the tools folder. Also, mjpeg isn't really meant for watching, it's more of an inbetween format.

I don't know your specs (hard drive cpu...., or what you cap at), but when I capped at 604x464 3000K/s play back was fine. If I went above 4000K, playback gets jumpy (like 16fps instead of 29.97), and my drives bench at +24mb/s R/W with 2000mb test files, Duron 850 w/256mb.

You did disable the capture functions for you AIW in the control pannel right.

And lastly have you checked their forums? If not here's the link http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/read_forums.asp?WebboardID=4&SectionID=7&ProductID=315...bDocTypesID=94

    and their compatibility guides http://www.pinnaclesys.com/support/display.asp?ProductID=315&SubDocTypesID=79

Do you have the latest drivers? The newest is dated May 30th, 2001. Make also sure you have the driver which is compatible with WinME.

disturbed1 was right with the VIA problems. You may also need to update your motherboard BIOS. If you are using AMD processor check the http://www.amdzone.com for latest motherboard and VIA updates.

I have DC10 plus and had a lot of problems, but mine were solved by upgading BIOS and VIA drivers.

    Good luck with your card!
