  1. Hi all. This may be so obvious that it just eludes me. But I need some help please.

I built a Vista Ultimate machine a few months back and installed my TV Wonder Elite card from an old XP machine in it. To my pleasant surprise, the drivers in Vista immediately recognized my card, the basic cable channels were setup, and I've been using it successfully to watch TV while I'm working and record a few programs.

However, I have a new project. I want to transfer all the old family VHS home movies to DVD (or VCD). So I attached an old Sony VHS machine to the dongle. But I can not figure out from Vista how to tell the TV card to switch source from TV to the newly attached VCR. I don't remember if I ever did this on the old XP machine so I don't know if I ever knew how. In addition, I was going to use Ulead VideoStudio to capture and create the DVD/VCD. It appears to see the ATI driver, but I'm sure I'm suppose to do something else.

I've done some searching around on here, but I'm at a loss. Can someone point me in the right direction or give me some advice? Thanks in advance.

The drivers that ship with Vista are like the ones that ship with XP - generic and basic. This means that they often have only enough functionality to display windows, but not address all the other features on the card. You should start by installing official ATI drivers, then see if you get access to the capture features from your applications.

  3. Hi gunslinger. Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I thought about that and went to the ATI site to see if I could find some additional software for the card. But it's awful. It doesn't really have (from what I could tell) any drivers or software for the TV Wonder Elite card (either XP or Vista).
