  1. I've got the same problem.
    Nero 5.0.4.8
    HP 9600si
    Win98SE
    PIII 1 GHz CPU
    512 MB RAM
    close to 100GB HD space

Nero 5.0.4.8 appears to burn correctly, but aftwards Explorer can't see files even though it reports the filespace is used. Nero CD info also shows 2 tracks. If I try Nero 5.5.xx, it tells me my source mpeg file is invalid. If I burn anyway, same result - empty looking CD. The mpeg was created with TMPGEnc; I heard 5.5 has problems with TMPGEnc generated files so I backed down.

Next, I created the bin with VCDimageGUI and CDRwin'd to disk. These are 80 minute CD's all burned at 4x. FUJI, TDK and PNY. The native mpeg file plays fine off the HD; real choppy or not at all if created with VCDimageGUI, depending on the CDR brand (Fuji seems to work better overall with my CD Writer)

I also had directCD but removed it; no change. So far, VCD to 74 minute CD's work fine from the bin; it may be an HP/80 minute/SVCD combination. I'm going to try some 74 minute SVCD's and see what happens. Stay tuned...

Anyway, you're not alone and you're not crazy. I'll let you know if I can get anything to work!

    Hi Zot,

Just an update. Some people said they had failures
too until they tried downgrading to Nero 5.0.1.9.
I tried it and sure enough it works. I haven't tried
5.5.x yet, but since I don't need menus (yet), I'm in
no rush. Anyone had similar experiences burning
but then had success with 5.5.x?

    thanks,
    John
